Mattia Bombelli
I was born in Magenta, a little town in the countryside a stone's throw from Milan, in 1993. Italy is an everlasting love for me: popular traditions and folklore take a tremendous part of the illustrations that I paint and the stories that I write.
My research brought me to the exploration of the French Expressionism and the illuminated manuscripts of the Gothic era, which I implement in my imaginary in various ways. I mainly focus on picture books and posters.
After spending my entire life in the countryside around Milan, in 2017 I moved to Vancouver, Canada, where I still live and work.
